This is done with a cow slab (which will freeze) that is placed under the deceased in order to lower the temperature, thereby slowing down the decomposition process of the deceased.

• Thanatopraxia home burial THANATOPRAXY IS ONLY PERMITTED WITH APPROVED FLUIDS. Thanatopraxis home viewing is an alternative to refrigerated viewing. However, this means the deceased must first be transported to a funeral home for this procedure. After the procedure, the deceased can return to their desired viewing location.
